Eligibility Requirements
If eligible, the process to become a member is relatively easy.
An application may be obtained from the credit union, or through a representative of your company (if your company provides credit union service through Louisiana Central).
In order to be eligible for membership at Louisiana Central, you must meet one of the following requirements:
- You must be employed by a Federal Agency or one of our Select Employer Groups (SEGs).
- You are a family member of someone that is a current member of Louisiana Central.
A family member is defined as a parent, child, spouse, sibling, stepparent, stepchild or grandparent.
You never have to terminate your membership if you change employers or the affiliation under which you joined…”Once a Member, Always a Member.”

Notice to new and existing members:
“Pursuant to the USA PATRIOT Act” Customer Identification is required per the U.S. Treasury.

Becoming a Select Employer Group (SEG)
Benefits to the employer
Credit union services are a benefit employers can offer employees with no cost to the employer. The only obligation of the employer to the credit union is the willingness to provide payroll deduction or direct deposit for those employees who desire credit union membership. No company is too large or too small to be eligible for this offer.
As a SEG of Louisiana Central you will be offering your employees a wide range of financial services and products with lower fees, lower loan rates, and higher interest on savings accounts than most financial institutions.
Orientations can be scheduled and conducted on-site for your convenience.
Becoming a SEG is an easy process:
- An official of your company needs to submit a written request on company letterhead requesting credit union service with the Louisiana Central Credit Union.
